Welcome to March, my friends!
Here in Connecticut, we have had previews of Spring, and my mood is already improving.
Warmer weather brings so many exciting things with it, and I’m looking forward to experiencing it all with my son. He is 14 months old, walking, and taking in EVERYTHING around him. I can’t wait to do more outdoor activities with him this year.
But first up, let’s talk Easter!
My previous post talked about toddler Easter basket ideas, and I wanted to include one for younger babies as well.
So, read on for my top non-toxic Easter basket ideas for babies:
Pat the Bunny Book
I still have my childhood copy of this. It is well loved and brings back fond memories. We are big readers in my house, and I intend to continuously promote the love of reading to my children. I believe books make great gifts, especially when holiday themed. Touch and feel books are always a big hit with my son.
Silicone Carrot Baby Teether
Babies love to put everything in their mouths. My many years in healthcare basically turned my eyes into a germ finding blacklight device (I’m known as the Type A infection control Queen among my coworkers).
I had a hard time accepting my baby would in fact continue to put EVERYTHING in his mouth, despite my own germaphobe tendencies. As a doula and new mom, I’m constantly keeping up with research on developmental milestones and activities that promote development. Once I discovered that babies learn more by exploring with their mouths, than they do with their hands, I loosened up a bit.
However, I still preferred my son to have designated toys for this purpose. So, teethers of all shapes and sizes definitely come in handy! Plus, they definitely do provide much needed relief during the seemingly endless teething process.
This carrot teether is adorable and on-brand for Easter (:
Baby Paper- Crinkle Sensory Toy
Babies are born with immature eyesight. They can see about 8-10 inches away from them, objects are blurry, and they cannot distinguish colors. However, they can distinguish between black and white, making these high contrast toys a great option.
The parents I recommend this baby paper to always report it is a huge hit. This is classified as a teether and sensory toy. The noise and high-contrast colors make it a no-brainer. I highly recommend grabbing one, or a few (we keep one at Grandma & Grandpas too), for an easy activity for baby.
Wooden/Crocheted Organic Bunny Rattle
How cute is this?! Not only is it adorable, but it is handmade with natural wood and organic cotton. A well-made, Montessori-inspired rattle that will help promote your baby’s brain development, hand-eye coordination, motor skills, stimulate their senses, and develop their imagination.
Easter Silicone Teethers
As previously mentioned, babies just love something to chew on! Another cute Easter themed option.
Haakaa Baby Food Feeder
I’m a big advocate for practical gifts. I also want to avoid buying items that will be trashed after the novelty wears off. These are great for offering frozen food for teething pain relief, or for introducing solids in a non-stressful way! I personally started baby-led weaning with my son at 6 months, but it can be nerve-racking as a first-time parent. This can help take away some of that early anxiety, but still allows for the exploration of new textures and flavors. My son loves when I serve him food in this!
Burt’s Bees Organic Easter Pajamas
Two adorable Easter pajama options for your little! We love our Burt’s Bees jammies, and they have the cutest prints! Again, can’t go wrong with a practical gift, especially with babies.
I hope you found some fun inspiration in this post and are looking forward to Spring in the coming weeks.
Wishing you and your family a Happy Easter!
